We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the staff at Saybrook Point Inn & Spa
is truly second to none. From our Marina
to our restaurant and everywhere in between, we’ve definitely got some of the best people in Connecticut working on our team. In this edition of “Citizens of Saybrook,” we slip into our robes to introduce you to Julie Kantor, a licensed massage therapist at SANNO Spa
What does a typical day look like for a SANNO Spa massage therapist?
When I get into work in the morning, I review the schedule and set up the room for the day. Then, I take a moment to prepare myself mentally — take a few deep breath to relax — and I get going. I’ll pick up my client, and I always ask them a few questions before we start to find out what they’re looking for.
What did you do before you became a licensed massage therapist?
Wow, that was a long time ago! I was, actually, an office manager at a medical practice. While I loved the office I worked for, it was stressful work. I started to go to school at night and began looking into becoming a massage therapist. Within the first five minutes of my exploration class, I was completely in love.
What is it about massage that you love?
Basically i love the nurturing aspect of it. I love helping people. I love having someone come in and tell me that something’s bothering them, and, then, having the opportunity to really focus on helping them. That’s what really gets me fired up.
If you were going to get one treatment at SANNO Spa, which would you choose?
I would probably get a go 80 minute deep tissue massage
. That’s actually a great perk of working at SANNO Spa. All the therapists here have the opportunity to exchange with each other and to practice what we preach for our physical and mental health.
What’s your favorite aspect of working at SANNO Spa?
We’re a family here and we truly enjoy working together. It’s rare to work in a place where everyone gets along so well, so I feel truly lucky to have ended up at SANNO Spa
