Saybrook Point Resort & Marina invests $8.5 million in renovating its Main Inn, enhancing guest rooms, sustainability features and design aligned with Connecticut’s coastal heritage.
Saybrook Point Resort & Marina has announced the ongoing renovation of all accommodations at its Main Inn, as part of a broader investment strategy focused on guest experience and sustainability.
The $8.5 million renovation project, scheduled for completion in May 2026, covers more than 82 rooms and forms part of a wider $14 million investment over the past three years. The initiative aims to upgrade facilities while maintaining the property’s coastal identity and heritage.
“This has never been about simply updating rooms – it’s about caring for something we’ve built over generations. This work reflects our long-term commitment to our guests, our team and the environment around us. We take great pride in evolving the resort in a way that feels both intentional and true to who we are.” said Stephen Tagliatela, owner of Saybrook Point Resort & Marina.
The redesigned interiors were developed in collaboration with Jeffrey Beers International, incorporating design elements inspired by the Connecticut shoreline and local history. Features include natural materials, maritime influences and a colour palette reflecting the surrounding landscape.

“Storytelling was at the heart of our vision for this property – we wanted to create more than just a place to visit, but to capture and share the character, history and emotional resonance that make it meaningful to the community. This is a place shaped not only by its landscape, but by the people, traditions and memories tied to it, with details like osprey motifs woven into the carpeting, locally crafted ceramics reflecting conservation efforts and the presence of the iconic Lady Fenwick adding a sense of history and discovery.” said Kelsey Verillo, Senior Interior Designer at Jeffrey Beers International.
Room upgrades include revised layouts, enhanced lighting systems and a new bedding programme featuring handcrafted mattresses. Public areas such as corridors have also been updated with new materials, finishes and design elements.
The project incorporates multiple sustainability measures, including the use of natural and renewable materials, PFAS-free textiles, locally sourced furnishings and recycled elements. Energy-efficient in-room technologies have also been installed to optimise heating and cooling based on occupancy.
Additional environmental initiatives include the installation of Tesla Shingle Solar panels, generating between 5% and 10% of the resort’s energy needs, and plans to introduce Tesla vehicles for guest use alongside on-site electric vehicle charging stations.
The renovation is being delivered by Franklin Enterprises under the direction of Project Manager Jim Tice, with the resort remaining operational throughout the upgrade process.
